The next ME Chair will report to the Dean of the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science (SES) and work closely with the leadership team of the University as the Institute continues to increase its impact and to fulfill its vision of being a world-class, student-centric research university. Qualified individuals will also be considered for an endowed chair position within SES. The Endowed Chair is expected to have a record of exemplary research, demonstrated leadership with building and managing a significant research enterprise, a strong interest and ability in promoting sponsored research programs and mentoring faculty, commitment to excellence in teaching, and a strategic vision that will position the Department prominently at the national and international stage.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Memphis invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor beginning August 2018. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, obtaining research funding, supervising graduate students, and providing professional service. Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or earn the degree within the first semester of hire. Candidates in all areas related to advanced manufacturing (e.g., additive manufacturing, design for manufacturability, and sustainable manufacturing) will be considered.

The Herff College of Engineering is in the process of establishing an Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence with the associated equipment and infrastructure, and candidates who can be an integral part of this center will be preferred for this position. The University of Hawai‘i is a Carnegie R1 doctoral university, which is recognized as a Land Grant, Sea Grant, Space Grant, and Sun Grant university. The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering, and its undergraduate program is ABET accredited.

Duties and Responsibilities: To conduct assigned mechanical engineering undergraduate and graduate courses and seminars including courses in the area of thermofluids; To develop an externally funded research program that results in publications in leading scholarly journals; To present research work in leading scholarly conferences; To supervise independent study activities; To serve as an academic adviser to students; To serve on Department, College & University committees.

The The College of Engineering (COE) at the University of South Florida (USF) invites applications and nominations for the position of Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The new Chair will have a unique opportunity to impact the direction of a vibrant, research intensive department that is on a trajectory for continued significant faculty and research program growth.

USF is a high-impact, global research university ranked as a Top 50 research university nationwide by the National Science Foundation. The USF COE has grown dramatically, having now more than 7000 students enrolled. The COE is embarking on an ambitious mission to significantly grow its faculty by adding more than 100 new faculty in the next 5 years. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has also grown to now enroll >1000 undergraduate students, >200 graduate students, and 20 faculty members. Significant growth of the department faculty size is anticipated over the next several years.

The position is anticipated to commence August 2018 but is negotiable. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
